Breaking : Barcelona’s transfer for superstar right-back will be decided on Wednesday
Barcelona faced a major blow in the final hours of the transfer deadline day when their pursuit of Julian Araujo had to be halted.
Although the club had reached an agreement with all parties involved, the move could not be completed due to paperwork coming late. As such, Barcelona were not able to sign the player, leaving the pursuit in a state of uncertainty.
However, the deal has not collapsed yet. Barcelona are expected to reach out to FIFA over the matter, hoping that the governing body will approve the transfer despite the late submission of the paperwork.
Fabrizio Romano has now chimed in on the matter, suggesting that a final decision on Araujo’s transfer will be made on Wednesday morning.
It appears the fate of the young right-back depends wholly on Major League Soccer as the deal was signed seconds after the deadline.
Barcelona have everything else agreed with LA Galaxy, who are prepared to sanction the sale of the youngster for a fee of €4 million. The player is expected to sign a permanent contract until 2026.
The coming hours could be crucial for both parties, as Barcelona look to confirm the signing of Araujo, who is likely to serve as a direct replacement for Sporting CP-bound Hector Bellerin.
